In 1998, MAUC honored co-founder and retired Judge Albert A. Peña, Jr. with the first Lifetime Achievement Award. At that time, Judge Peña had served our community for almost half a century. His tenacious spirit, persistence in defending self-evident truths, and promoting economic and social empowerment within the Latino community not only qualified the Judge for this honor, but also personified lifetime achievement in its simplest form. Thus, MAUC established the Albert Peña, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award.
