Social Services

We offer our residents and community a continuum of place-based supportive services through program integration that address social determinants of health.

Resident Services

A healthy community promotes physical activity and fosters community.

The purpose of the Program and the Services is to enrich the lives of the residents of MAUC’s Community and that their collaborative efforts will undergo an evolution which, by the nature of the Services and of the needs of the residents of the Program requires flexibility and frequent examination of outcomes.

The creation, development, and implementation of the effective Program and Services is in a frequent changing process whose ultimate aim is to identify and test programs which will meet the needs of our Multifamily and our 62+ Senior community.

Through integration, MAUC has created a revolving door for all programs so families can be assisted holistically and lower social determinants of health (SDoH) along the way. These last few years, there has been a focus on housing in the SDoH. Where you live matters, and helping people stay housed is a critical piece of the SDoH. Assisting families to maintain their family homes not only creates generational wealth and economic opportunity but now families can have a better quality of life and fix homes that in many situations are not in the best quality to live in.

They now can seek resources to improve health and living conditions. MAUC has created a revolving door to assist the entire family in a holistic approach. Clients will leave with assistance in all areas of their lives. By lowering SDoH, we can build stronger communities in San Antonio and create generational wealth and economic opportunity for the entire family.

Our community land trust is a community-driven housing model that utilizes ground leasing, pre-determined resale restrictions, and shared equity to keep homes permanently affordable. MDF will oversee critical tasks such as marketing, homebuyer selection, attainable pricing, and ongoing stewardship to ensure the long-term success and compliance. MDF will prioritize homeownership – building a portfolio of homes to be prices affordably for purchase by eligible, qualified low-income households. This owner occupied portfolio will be built through new construction or acquisition and rehabilitation of existing housing stock, in partnership with local nonprofit housing development organizations.

In February of 2025, San Antonio City Council approved ordinances designating MAUC Development Fund as an official Community Land Trust. MDF will primarily serve San Antonio’s West Side, with a service area that includes portions of council districts 4, 5 and 6, generally spanning from Interstate 35 to Bandera Road and from Highway 90 north toward Loop 410.

Supporting community land trusts is one of the strategies outlined in the city’s Strategic Housing Implementation Plan, which council approved in 2021 to guide the construction and preservation of affordable housing as costs continue to rise across San Antonio.
